October 1st is National Fire Pup Day!

Different jobs, same mission: Saving lives.

October 1st is National Fire Pup Day, and Local Union 669 is proud to salute the four-legged heroes who help keep our communities safe.

Long before modern fire suppression technology, Dalmatians cleared the way for horse-drawn fire carriages and helped keep horses calm at the station. Today, they remain proud symbols of fire prevention and safety while taking on new roles alongside their human counterparts, from search and rescue to providing mental health support and stress relief following major incidents.

Just as these brave canines work alongside first responders to protect lives, our brothers and sisters install and maintain lifesaving, automatic fire protection systems designed to catch fires before they spread.

From the firehouse pups to our skilled sprinkler fitters on the job site, safety is always our top priority.

Skilled workers. Safe systems. Loyal protectors.
